Report: One Week Outreach in Abuja, Nigeria – June 10th to June 15th, 2024

Introduction:

In June of 2024, a one-week outreach was organized in Abuja, Nigeria with the goal of aiding the underprivileged in the local community. With a dedicated team and generous donors, the outreach aimed to make a positive impact by addressing immediate needs such as food supplies, clothes, medicines, as well as providing free medical consultations and surgeries. This report highlights the key activities and outcomes of this event.

 

Objective:

The primary objective of the outreach was to bring relief and support to the underprivileged population of Abuja by addressing their necessities and healthcare requirements. By providing food supplies, clothes, medicines, and offering free medical consultations and surgeries, the outreach aimed to make a tangible difference in the lives of nearly 1000 individuals, including men, women, and children.

 

Activities and Accomplishments:

1. Donation Distribution:

During the one-week outreach, a significant amount of food supplies, including staple grains, like rice and beans, spaghetti, garri and a variety of food items were packaged for 1000 families.  Additionally, clothing items, such as shirts, pants, and shoes, were provided to individuals and families in need. The generosity of donors allowed for the provision of sufficient supplies to cover the entire event.

 

2. Medical Services:

A team of dedicated doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals volunteered their time and expertise to offer free medical consultations and surgeries. The medical services provided covered both general health check-ups and specialized treatments. Common ailments were diagnosed, prescribed, and treated on-site, ensuring immediate relief for those in need. Several individuals also received surgeries for more complex medical conditions, enabling them to regain their health and quality of life.

 

3. Awareness and Education:

Beyond immediate assistance, the outreach program also focused on educating the community on health and well-being. Awareness sessions and interactive workshops were held to promote preventive care, proper nutrition, and hygiene practices. These sessions empowered the attendees to take charge of their own health and encourage a healthier lifestyle in their community.

 

Outcomes and Impact:

The one-week outreach in June of 2024 had a tremendous impact on the lives of the underprivileged population in Abuja, Nigeria. Through the contributions of numerous volunteers and donors, nearly 1000 individuals, including men, women, and children, received much-needed support and care. The following are some of the outcomes achieved:

 

  • Immediate Relief: The provision of food supplies, clothing, and medicines brought immediate relief to those struggling with limited resources, ensuring they had access to necessities.
  • Improved Healthcare: Free medical consultations and surgeries allowed the underprivileged to seek professional attention for their health concerns, leading to early diagnosis, treatment, and improved well-being.
  • Empowerment and Education: The awareness sessions and workshops disseminated crucial knowledge about health, hygiene, and preventive care, empowering the community to make informed decisions about their well-being. We registered a woman empowerment initiative where ladies are taught skills that will empower them economically.

  6. Medical care and various tests (HIV, Hepatitis A, B & C, malaria, typhoid etc.) 895

  8. Repeat drug recipients for High blood pressure and diabetes 100 people

 

The one-week outreach held in June of 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria, made a significant impact on the lives of nearly 1000 underprivileged individuals. Through the provision of food supplies, clothing, medicines, as well as free medical consultations and surgeries, the outreach successfully addressed immediate needs and promoted better healthcare practices in the community. This year we are also pleased to say that we have started a free dispensary clinic where patients with high blood pressure and diabetes who register with us can come and collect their repeat prescription drugs free of charge from us. This is a huge milestone in helping the underprivileged who cannot afford their medicines for long term illnesses like high BP and diabetes.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that this impactful one-week outreach in Abuja, Nigeria was organized by the notable non-profit organization, Blessing Mankind. With their unwavering commitment to uplifting communities and improving the lives of the less fortunate, Blessing Mankind played a pivotal role in coordinating the logistics, securing donations, and mobilizing volunteers for this successful event.
