Blessing Mankind 2021 took place from the 12th to the 17th of July 2021. The week-long event took place in Utako District of Abuja, Nigeria.

A total of 10 units were operational during the week-long clinic. The units included Nursing, , Ophthalmologists, Dentistry, Surgery, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Registration, Counselling, and Welfare. The breakdown of responsibilities for the event is as follows:
Six hundred twelve (612) people were captured for registration for health care. The figure far exceeds this number (over 1000 souls), especially for welfare donations where there was difficulty controlling the crowd.

  • Eighty-four (84) facilitators volunteered to attend to beneficiaries.
  • Nine (9) volunteer doctors, including two (2) surgeons and an ophthalmologist, offered medical care and surgeries.
  • Two (2) volunteer nurses (matrons) monitored and screened the beneficiaries.
  • Two (2) volunteer pharmacists oversaw drug dispensing
  • Two (2) volunteer laboratory scientists ran our in-house laboratory.
  • A Dental hygienist was paid to offer dental services.
  • A dentist offered dental care.

EYE CARE
Over 200 were seen by the ophthalmologist. Seventy-five (75) people received free reading glasses. Five (5) people on the special list got medicated glasses according to their specifications, paid for by Blessing Mankind.

DENTAL
The Dental Unit provided general teeth hygiene and cleaning for Forty (40) people. We also sponsored tooth extractions and fillings for Ten (10) people.

WELFARE
Blessing Mankind Welfare Department gave out raw rice, spaghetti, salt and food seasoning to almost One Thousand (1000) recipients. Widows are one of our primary beneficiaries of the welfare food/clothing packages we give.

LABORATORY
The Lab ran HIV, Malaria, Typhoid, Blood sugar, PCV and Hepatitis A, B & C tests. Urinalysis dipstick testing was also carried out.

PHARMACY
Our pharmacy was operational and stocked with various drugs and medicines for various ailments and dispensed professionally and ethically by our pharmacists.

SURGERY
The surgeons, led by Dr Nugwa Adah, included General I. Okeke (rtd), Dr Sunday Simon, Dr Anointed Tende and Surgical Nurse Eko, successfully operated seven (7) with medical conditions ranging from lipomas to hernias.

Due to time and logistical constraints and the complexity of several cases, Blessing Mankind collaborated with a military hospital to handle post-operative surgeries in the long term. This collaboration aided an outstanding list of eleven (11) people who could not be operated during the event. The beneficiaries have been placed on our “Help List.”

EXTRA HELP
Blessing Mankind provided several people with several months’ supply of medication, funding for further medical tests, and transportation for people unable to reach the event venue to come and participate in the free clinic. The foundation gave out clothing and sanitary towels to ladies. Christian Broadcasting Nigeria (CBN) kindly donated these materials. Surgical patients also benefited from special top-of-the-line Allevyn dressings generously donated by Beta Pharmaceuticals, United Kingdom.
